Let’s pretend that you and I have made this appointment to talk about marriage.  I trust that we could be sitting down for a cup of coffee or whatever. I know a chill place at town-center we can go to.

If I could add value to your marriage I would say the following verse right here, has helped me answer the “why” in my personal relationship with God.

1 Peter 3:7 AMP(Amplified Version)
In the same way, you husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way [with great gentleness and tact, and with an intelligent regard for the marriage relationship], as with someone physically weaker, since she is a woman. Show her honor and respect as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered or ineffective https://www.biblegateway.com/verse/en/1%20Peter%203%3A7(biblegateway.com).

I could tell you friend, that this important nugget is not always taught when you are getting married.  The talk is usually about the ceremony or the honeymoon. Most hearers of this verse usually are offended at the whole weaker vessel thing and forget that we need to know her so that OUR Prayers will be effective. The verse records that how I treat my wife is in direct proportion to how my prayer will be heard.  It said hung up or ineffective.  INEFFECTIVE!?  I don’t care how medically advanced we are, there is no pill to help that!!!

These are the words of Peter, a married fisherman who became a fisher of men, and who knew the value of being restored in relationship.  It seemed like Peter had found a truth and wanted to pass that information for us to read here, today.

You and I have something in common:  We both are trying to figure out how to better understand our wives. We want to be a blessing to them as they are to us, in making our life here on earth that much sweeter. Brother, that takes time.

It reminds me of a joke where a man is praying for a raise at work and hears from the Lord. the Lord replies, “You know that I can do anything, above all that you ask.  Here you are only asking for some change? what do you really want?”  with a his head bowed, The man replies, “Well, Lord?  I would really like to know what is going on in my wife’s mind?” To which the Lord replied, “Let’s talk about that raise, my son.”  Believe me, God can help you understand your wife, but it takes talking to him in prayer and reading the words recorded in the bible.

Marriage can be explained via metaphors and stories. These are great because they instantly shift our focus to a servant mindset instead of a consumer mindset. However, all the well-meaning word pictures fail in comparison; to how I believe God designed marriage explained in the bible.

Brother, I genuinely encourage you to pick up the bible and just look for scriptures on marriage, that alone is a great first step. thanks to bible gateway I have added this link to take give you a little help.  https://www.biblegateway.com/quicksearch/?quicksearch=marriage+&version=MSG&resultspp=25

Conclusion

To have open communication with the God, we must treat our wives as a God’s daughter first. We should understand her in a way as to help her accomplish the goals and dreams she has been given.  This is a tip that I can give you from being married for over twenty years. wedding wednesday

I hope we can meet again friend. This has been a great time for me being able to add value to you and your marriage. I pray for your success in marriage and life. God bless you.

-Mike
