Leading, how to start – D.M. Escalante

Thank you so much for connecting with me I am writing a series on leading if you wanted to see the first article click here.    Any Journey begins with a first step. How does one lead? How do we transition from follower to leader. How do we move from a position of being told what to do to a position of telling others?

I have experienced many types of leaders in my working career. I think my dad was the toughest.  He is very stern and is not one who coddles you when it comes to your performance. My Dad is all business and is the best at his craft (concrete) He gets things done without regard as to how you feel about it. He was not always the Boss.  He started out about 40 or so years ago. as a general laborer.  He often worked hard and long hours to support my brother and I at the time. Now he runs his own company I am so proud of my Dad.

Leading begins with the taking the first step: Initiative.  you have to commit for the duration. Leading does not take breaks, it takes assessments to see how well the project is moving. It takes guts to lead sure you can always criticize that leader and how you could do better.  If that has happened to you then, I have a question? what is stopping you from leading?  This is critical because as you find out what is truly keeping you silent you will discover the thing that is holding you back.

quick steps:

  1. Identify.  Identify what is truly holding you from stepping in or stepping up?
  2. Quantify.  Figure out if the reason your are staying in the background, is worth seeing the project flounder. one reason it could be failing is derived from a lack of the gift you bring to the table.
  3. Rectify.  Reduce your decision to lead to one act you can do right now. Do not loose your nerve, the first action is always the hardest. If you need resources to help you get the ball rolling look out for them.  Resolve within your self to do one thing to lead (and yes, planing is a step towards leading although you have to keep momentum).

I pray that these quick steps help you move into the position the project needs you for. If it has? then please let me know. I want to hear from you.  If you think  this will help a friend then share it.  There are many other resources if you look up leadership in your search engine.  the resources are endless as they equip you to climb higher and soar. Praying for you.

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31 KJV)

If God be for us, than who cam be against us? Too often the question comes to the forefront of I am not able to carry out the task of _________(fill the blank).

You get the idea. “I don’t think I’m able to support my pastor,” or “I don’t think I’m ready to begin ministry,” How can I lead? “. Well the answer lies in these words penned over two thousand years ago.

I want to share that apart from Christ, we can do nothing ………. That means nothing , NO-thing, projects that have been completed without the leading and direction of his holy inspiration will come to ruin in time. This is why, in my opinion, many “on fire leaders” soon burn out as a result of an unbalanced life style. But that is another focus.

I have a tool box at home and each tool has a function, even the brake-bleeder kit with its rustic blend of hose and jar with a coat hanger to compliment the home manufactured asset. Each tool is designed for use to assist in the production of the end item; the repair of my truck.

The tools by themselves  cannot do anything.   However, in the hands of a”mechanical ninja,” (like myself ha-ha) these tools Read the rest of this entry

Father’s day is this weekend…..

Fathers day is around the corner. I know for some we are still trying to find the right gift. What will it be this year? Could it be another tie? What about those socks you got him last year? How about the 20 bucks you owe him, ha-ha only kidding… seriously though.

….This can also be a sobering holiday as those will experience the first Fathers day with out their father to honor. It is a sobering thought. If that is you, I hope these words communicate that you are not alone. I lost my uncle over the weekend. I cannot understand the emotions they must be facing. I hope they were able to say things that needed to be said but i don’t know, we haven’t really spoke in a while. They live in a different country. I know my uncle loved his kids. Like i know that my dad loves me. Like i know for a fact that Jesus loves you.

Having Jesus in our lives does not soften the punches from life, it means when we have a God in our corner. He is telling us that he loves us and he will never leave us. His words to us will never pass away. His love for us is everlasting. God is there in your corner telling you that ” you can make it” even when it was you who started the fight in the first place. He is with you, in every battle just read Psalm 139 for the particular’s……..

Perhaps friend, you and your dad are not speaking. Maybe you never talked to your dad because he was not in your world growing up. I want you to know that Jesus sees you where you are and has counted every sigh in desperation and tear shed in hopelessness. If you want the truth, Jesus knows what it’s like to have his father leave him, too. Jesus wanted that to happen so that you (yes, you) could have a father you can talk too. Whenever. Whatever it is. God can handle it. By trusting in him calling out to him like you would a close friend and reading the bible daily. You will begin to understand the heart of the father to the fatherless. The one who cares also for the widows.

This fathers day, make it special by going to your local church and enjoy the experience it is to be in the Father’s house. Consider giving your control over to his way of doing things? You might be surprised by the outcomes. Surround yourself with those who believe in God and ask for prayer. I have to run, think about it,  See you at church this Sunday..
